About Advocates for Children

Court Appointed Special Advocates are committed to speaking up for neglected and abused children and allowing them to live and thrive in safe, nurturing homes.
It is the vision of Advocates for Children CASA that all children will dream, thrive, and grow with a sense of belonging and empowerment to build a successful future.  The organization’s core program supports children who have experienced abuse or neglect as they navigate the confusing and complicated child welfare system.  Advocates for Children CASA recruits, trains and supports professional community
relationship with these children. CASA volunteers gather information by visiting these kids in their homes (whether that is a foster home, kinship home, etc.), talking with different teachers and school staff, taking them to outings in the community, providing transportation to different visits and appointments, and much more. The CASA volunteer then reports back to the Judge and other professionals making decisions on these children’s futures and provides them with informed recommendations, concerns and observations of what they feel is in this child’s best interest. CASA volunteers work addressing child abuse requires a holistic approach. Beyond the courtroom, Advocates for Children CASA has identified the crucial need for wraparound services. These services focus on abuse prevention and providing ongoing support to children and families even after they are no longer system involved.
